Herding
In 2010 while we were at a show, we decided to go down the back of Erskine Park to try out a little herding with our dogs - Storm and Cynder thought is was christmas come early (so to speak) and really enjoyed working the basics of sheep.
It wasnt untill April 2011 that we had a spare weekend to travel down and get some full lessons with the Shepherds. (Herding season runs between March till October only every year at Erskine Park.)
Cynder took to the herding like her ancestors taught her themselves! What instinct - instead of the instructor teaching the dog, she was teaching the human (me) how to keep up with Cynder!
We try to spare a moment to get our dogs down to the herding arena to keep on working with them and their instinct. We feel its important that our breeds shouldn't lose one of the reasons they were originally bred for.
