We entered and trialed the Aussies in another Rally-O Trial 20th April with good results and a pass for both Socks and Nitra.
I attended a Tracking Workshop held at Erskine Park 13th April. The morning started off very foggy and then cleared up to to a bright blue, sunny day. I found it very interesting and a wonderful introduction to the basic foundation for teaching our dogs how to Track. I look for training 'Tracking' in future.
We entered and competed at the NSW Australian Shepherd Specialty 30th March - Conformation, Obedience and Rally-O. We didnt place in the conformation ring but did very well in the Rally-O. Nitra exceeded my expectations and gained a quali/pass the only the mistakes and points lost were handler errors. Socks was not in her element today, but still walked away with a quali/pass and gained 2nd place in novice!
Late night 14th February
~ Valentine's Day ~ We welcomed into the word a very long waited litter from Storm. We are beside ourselves with joy to see the birth of 3 large healthy babies born; 2 males and 1 female. What a year 2012 has been here at Toujour Kennel. So much has happened and to sum it up here is a list of our crew's achievements:
STORM - gained a Rally'O Novice pass and started her duties with Delta Therapy Dog program attending a local rehabilitation hospital CYNDER - gained her qualification for these titles; Gamblers Dog, Jumping Dog, Snooker Dog, Strategic Pairs Dog, Endurance Test and Pre-trial (herding). Not to mention a pass in Rally'O Novice. Cynder really pulled in the titles this year! RAIVEN - slowed down in the showing and went on to be a wonderful mother whelping her first litter and the first litter for our kennel. This was the Amour litter - which we have run on VALA her daughter (who curently is staying with friends of ours, Kim Garlic, in Sydney). VALA has been introduced to the show ring and has achieved a Baby Puppy in Group while she was in TAS handled by Ms Fay Harris. KOVU - gained his Australian Champion Title in the showring along the way achieving 4 class in group awards and a Runner Up Best in Group as well. Also in other sports Kovu has two qualification (passes) towards his Herding Test Title. SOCKS - gained her Herding Test Title and started earning some show points towards her Champion Title and while in the ring she achieved 2 class in group awards. NITRA - only just a new member to the team, will hopefully make her achievements next year. Overall our dogs have achieved 7 new titles and 6 additional quali's/passes towards future titles. 03.11.2012 at the Ulverstone Show under judge Mrs V Carter (SA) Vala goes Baby Puppy in Group. Thanks to Ms Fay Harris for handling her.
Well i decided to 'bite the bullet' and give both Obedience and Rally-O a try - sometimes the best way to learn is to dive in!
On the 27th and 28th September we went to the Port Macquarie and Hasting club show and trails, first of all we gave Rally-O a try on the Saturday, due to my mis-understanding on the appropriate way of turn at a post Socks and Cynder both lost lots of point, then i was pointed out my mistake by another handler and went in and did a better job with Storm. Cynder and Storm walked away with their first RN passes. Lastly on the Sunday i entered and trailed Cynder in Obedience, again my bad handling let Cynder down - but at least i learnt the 'flow' of what to do next time. Cynder did do excellent job for the 'Stand for Examination' with a score of 20/20 !! 21st September at the Hunter Kennel Club under judge Mr K Hammond (NSW) Socks goes Puppy in Group!
15th September While we were in Sydney for the Belgian Shepherd Specialty, Cynder and i dashed over to the Border Collie Club Trial and gave herding a go for the last trial of the year and was awarded with a PT pass and is now PT Title! (Pre-Trial Title) [pending paperwork]. Cynder will need further training before we give any further trialling a serious entry. But she certainly has herding instinct and serious potential. Let me announce [pending paperwork]: Aust Ch. Deviebelle Eldo Cynder JD GD SPD SD PT ET September 8th & 9th Cynders' Saturday results: AD - one fault still placed 2nd in 600 won a sash and 8kg Advance GDX - DQ SPDX - clear round but went over time Cynders' Sunday results: SD - Quali and now TITLED!! JDX - one fault Let me announce: Aust Ch. Deviebelle Eldo Cynder JD GD SPD SD HT ET I thought it was about time a gave Raiven a go at Jumping Dog and so she was entered on Sunday. The weather was really hot and since Raiven hasnt had that much training recently due to having a litter i wasnt expecting too much. She did really well all things considered. I was happy she worked under distraction and followed me around the course. She had a fault and a refussal - but nothing some training cant fix - i look forward to trialling her more in future. |
