Our gorgeous Taboo had her first debut weekend and did us proud! At the Morisset District Show Taboo won from a huge class 1st in Sweepstakes and backed it up with a Baby Puppy In Group! Following day at The Working Dog Show Taboo won Baby Puppy of breed and a 3rd in Sweepstakes! Temper and Gucci also enjoyed the show arena this weekend too with some points, BOB, BCC and they topped it off with passing their Herding Instinct Test!!
What a year 2012 has been here at Toujour Kennel. So much has happened and to sum it up here is a list of our crew's achievements:
STORM - gained a Rally'O Novice pass and started her duties with Delta Therapy Dog program attending a local rehabilitation hospital CYNDER - gained her qualification for these titles; Gamblers Dog, Jumping Dog, Snooker Dog, Strategic Pairs Dog, Endurance Test and Pre-trial (herding). Not to mention a pass in Rally'O Novice. Cynder really pulled in the titles this year! RAIVEN - slowed down in the showing and went on to be a wonderful mother whelping her first litter and the first litter for our kennel. This was the Amour litter - which we have run on VALA her daughter (who curently is staying with friends of ours, Kim Garlic, in Sydney). VALA has been introduced to the show ring and has achieved a Baby Puppy in Group while she was in TAS handled by Ms Fay Harris. KOVU - gained his Australian Champion Title in the showring along the way achieving 4 class in group awards and a Runner Up Best in Group as well. Also in other sports Kovu has two qualification (passes) towards his Herding Test Title. SOCKS - gained her Herding Test Title and started earning some show points towards her Champion Title and while in the ring she achieved 2 class in group awards. NITRA - only just a new member to the team, will hopefully make her achievements next year. Overall our dogs have achieved 7 new titles and 6 additional quali's/passes towards future titles. 15th September While we were in Sydney for the Belgian Shepherd Specialty, Cynder and i dashed over to the Border Collie Club Trial and gave herding a go for the last trial of the year and was awarded with a PT pass and is now PT Title! (Pre-Trial Title) [pending paperwork]. Cynder will need further training before we give any further trialling a serious entry. But she certainly has herding instinct and serious potential. Let me announce [pending paperwork]: Aust Ch. Deviebelle Eldo Cynder JD GD SPD SD PT ET We went down to the International Spring Fair for another go at Herding - i was really looking forward to it and had big hopes. Must say i was actually disppointed . . . several factors made this trial negative for myself and between bad handling etc my dogs didnt do as well this trial as they did two weeks earlier (below trial). Socks and Kovu only just scraped through and gained a Herding Test pass now making them eligiable for their HT title. They will both need a lot more work before trying PT (and for myself i will need to be a better handler). Cynder - unfortunately due to me - was unable to perform at her best and wasnt able to clear her PT run. There's always next time.
Socks is now Wlkabout Hot Property HT At a lovely day at the NSW Herding Assoc. Trial at Erskine Park.
First up with Socks who was like 'What are those!' and the more she made the move the more she 'clicked' onto working them. With Socks go at her HT she started off with scattering the sheep but she worked well picking them all back up and then keeping them all together and moving them. Socks worked a good pace without pushing the sheep which i was happy about. Socks gained her first HT (Herding Test) pass. Next was Kovu's turn and he was gearing to go! Firstly he sent sheep in every direction and i gave him a minute or two to figure himself out and i wasnt disappointed! Kovu pulled all the sheep back together and got the idea to keep them together, he did lose a sheep once or twice but got them back with little effort. Kovu was overly excited and worked at a fast pace, he will need to learn to slow down, his enthusiasm was a little intimidating to the sheep but still Kovu gained his first HT (Herding Test) pass. Lastly Cynder had her go at the PT (Pre-Trial) class and got a pass and did really well! Cynder is fantastic to work with and i was very happy at how she handles the sheep. |
